Subject Lines that Gets Event Emails Deleted

Think you’ve created a clever and enticing subject lines but turns out you’ve included words that may be seen as a spam or words that will consider prospects to delete your email?

Subject lines can be a bit tricky. In email marketing, the important part is to get prospects to open the email. But the key is to engage and connect with them.

Bad subject lines were created unintentionally. But of course, it happens from time to time. In creating a subject line, you need to entice prospects to open your email instead of putting it into their junk mails. Here are some of the worst “punch lines” to avoid in your subject so it won’t go straight to their junk mails or get your emails deleted.

  • Free

Everybody knows that there’s no such thing as “free” and marketers only use that to entice interests with their readers. Try to express what you’re offering by showing the value of your product or services without hurting your reputation.

  • Guaranteed

Recipients are naturally skeptical of emails whose subject lines use this word, as not much can actually be guaranteed. Remember you’re dealing with jaded readers who are looking for any excuse to cull your message from their inbox.

  • All Caps and Wacky Caps Subject Lines.

Shouting out your message to your readers is not necessary. If you want to get their attention try using words that creates “urgency”. Use words such as “New”, “Last Day”, and “Don’t Miss Out”. This will help ensure that your emails all end up exactly where you intend for them to go.

  • Money or $$$ Sign

Companies are setting spam filters and using money or dollar signs in your subject line may cause the email to be seen as spam. If attending your event will cost attendees to pay upon signing up consider putting it on the email instead, not in the subject line.

  • Join us and Earn

Asking someone to join your event and earn something is associated with scam money-making plan. This is also a way to be considered as a spam mail.

  • Long and Winded Subject Lines

Subject lines should be about 5-6 words only. Subject such as, “We are hosting the most epic event next weekend. Reserve your seat now” should be trimmed down before sending. Also, subject lines must contain information about the event for people to be interested. Don’t just put “epic event”.

  • Subject Lines without details

The subject line, “Don’t miss out, book now.” lacks details. The word “Don’t miss out” is a good example because it creates a sense of urgency. However, the rest of the words used doesn’t offer enough information to make readers open the email.

Subject lines are difficult to write but are so important to the success of any email campaign. Getting your email noticed can be a challenge, but an effective subject line goes a long way towards increasing open rates and connects with your readers.
